Lin Lie and Doctor Strange join forces in Sword Master #6. Also, the Master Class story arc comes to a close as Ares, Lie and Shang-Chi find Ares’ son Ismenios. A Strange Encounter has Doctor Strange attempting to convince Lin Lie that he is an ally. But with Ji Shuangshuang stealing the spirit orb that his father left him, Lie is having difficulty with trust in anyone. And in Master Class, the group finds Ismenios, but also awaken Davi Naka. The mother goddess of Madripoor cannot just let them walk out of the temple. They find out the truth about why Ismenios was imprisoned in the first place.
Sword Master has been one of my favorites to spin out of the New Agents of Atlas event. In the main origin story, we get some Greek myths and Asian myths sprinkled into the story. I’m always a sucker for myths and legends from ancient civilizations. I like that Lie is not just the Sword Master from the beginning. He’s really having to learn as he goes, and there is not a lot of help coming his way. Doctor Strange is a really cool addition to the story. Gunji’s art is really growing on me. And I cannot wait to meet the other tribe leaders that will be fighting Chiyou as he attempts to awaken.
