Action Comics #1011

As always, I will be discussing specifics of this issue of the comic so if you do not want to spoil the issue before reading it stop reading right here. If you want to get caught up with a physical copy of this or any other issues, head right to and get caught up. If a physical copy is not your thing, you can sign up at where you can get caught up on a ton of titles with digital issues. Their unlimited subscription lets you read many back issues for a monthly fee.

True be told, I only started reading Action Comics at issue 1000, so there is a lot I’m missing. We’ve got Bendis writing with Steve Epting art and Brad Anderson colors. This is issue 5 in the Leviathan Rising story arc leading up to the Event Leviathan six issue arc. Superman and Louis have been under cover trying to gather information on Leviathan. Lois’ dad is still in the hospital recovering. Amanda Waller and Jimmy Olsen were left at the fortress of solitude, but Waller knocked Olsen out and escaped after Jimmy accused her of Running Leviathan.

The action starts with some agents trying to apprehend Kate Spencer/Lady Manhunter for what they believe is her role in the destruction of the DEO. She escapes after some struggle. Lois gets information on Spyral from a Spyral agent named Tiger and then Lois and Clark get that information to Huntress in Gotham to publish. Lois’ dad is confronted by someone posing as a doctor to recruit him into Leviathan. This mystery person reveals their plan to reset the world and hints that their ranks are going to be surprising.

Back at the Fortress of Solitude Lois and Clark get the story on Waller from Jimmy and recap the questions still left unanswered. Like why did the destruction of the DEO not leave any bodies? Everything is drawn really well. I like Jimmy Olsen’s look to go with the events of him confronting Waller. He looks like an innocent, goofy kid that challenges the former head of ARGUS. The story progresses well, you may know that I’m not a huge fan of big comic events that require you buy a bunch of issues to get the story, but I think Leviathan is going to be worth it.

Remember, if you want to get caught up with some back issues, head over to and see what issues they have in stock.
